Gallatin Arts Festival Features ‘The Artist in Dialogue’

Hannah Adkins, above, a senior at NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, describes her sculptural installation, “Play Structure,” at this year’s Gallatin Arts Festival, which featured the works of more than 100 up-and-coming artists. This year’s theme was “The Artist in Dialogue,” with students considering how their works serve as a dialogue with the audience, how their art may spur discussion, which cultures or ideas they communicate with, and how their art is in dialogue with other works.

Much of this year’s festival was held in Gallatin’s new Jerry H. Labowitz Theatre for the Performing Arts, a 117-seat theatre with adjoining gallery space for the display of student and faculty art.
