Steinhardt, TSOA Artists Selected for Whitney Biennial

Artist Carol Bove’s installations (pictured at right) explore the distance between the ideals of the 1960s and those of the current day. She, along with other alumni artists from the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development and the Tisch School of the Arts, have been selected for the 2008 Whitney Biennial, on view March 6 through June 1 at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Founded in 1932, the biennial is the Whitney’s signature exhibition and considered one of the most important surveys of contemporary art in the United States today.

            NYU alumni represented in this years biennial include Bove (Steinhardt ’00), Amy Granat (Steinhardt ’07), MK Guth (Steinhardt ’02), Spike Lee (TSOA ’82); Melanie Schiff (TSOA ’99); and Gretchen Skogerson (TSOA ’96). Bove and Granat are also adjunct instructors in Steinhardt’s Department of Art; Lee is artistic director of Tisch’s Graduate Film Division.
