Wagner Forum Asks: ‘Does Feminism Matter?’

The Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service recently hosted a conversation with the Women’s Campaign Forum entitled “Politics and the ‘F’ Word: Does Feminism Matter?” The featured panelists were Randi Weingarten, pictured at right, president of the United Federation of Teachers; Ann Lewis, Democratic strategist and senior adviser to Senator Hillary Clinton; U.S. Weekly editor Janice Min; Lynne Brown, NYU senior vice president for university relations and public affairs; and Community Board 1 (Lower Manhattan) Chairperson Julie Menin.

The moderator was Ilana Goldman, president of the Women’s Campaign Forum, who posed questions such as “What does it mean to be a feminist?” and “Why don’t more women self-identify as feminists?” The panelists also discussed how best to encourage more women to seek elective or appointive office in their communities.
