Tisch School Gala Raises Record $1.6 Million

By Richard Pierce

This year’s Tisch School of the Arts (TSOA) gala benefit, entitled “Totally Tisch,” set a record with nearly $1.6 million raised for student scholarships and seed funding for the renovation of the three sites for the TSOA’s new Institute of Performing Arts.

Honorees Joan Tisch, Billy Crudup ’94, Carly Roney ’90 and ’94, David Liu ’87, and Richard Vague, and the alumni cast and creative team of the hit Broadway musical Spring Awakening, were in attendance along with celebrity alumni and friends such as Chris Columbus ’80, Jesse L. Martin ’91, and Ethan Hawke.

A 60-minute stage show was held at The Town Hall in Times Square. Highlights of the performance include Gay Men's Chorus serenading Joan Tisch with "My Best Girl;" members of the cast of "Spring Awakening" performing a medley from the Tony Award-winning show; and Jesse L. Martin singing "Something's Coming" with TSOA students in a musical tribute to the school.
