Why must I obtain a new NYUCard?

The new card contains new technologies and security features. It will allow access to all NYU sites globally.

When and where is the re-carding event?

The re-carding will run from June 6, 2011 — October 14, 2011 and will take place at NYUCard Center, located at 383 Lafayette Street. This is located at the corner of East 4th Street and Lafayette Street.

What are the hours for the re-carding?

Summer Hours (June 6 - August 26) the hours are Monday — Thursday 9:00am — 6:00pm and Friday 10:00am — 4:00pm. Please note that the office will be closed on Monday, July 4th.

Fall Hours (August 29 - October 14), the hours are Monday — Thursday 8:00am — 8:00pm and Friday 10:00am — 4:00pm. Please note that the office will be closed on Monday, September 5th.

I am a current Student/Faculty/Administrator/Staff. Do I have to get a new NYUCard?

Yes. All active students, faculty, administrators, and staff must obtain a new NYUCard. Your current card will no longer be active as of November 10, 2011. Any card obtained prior to June 6th must be replaced.

Can I keep my old NYUCard?

No, your old NYUCard must be surrendered in order to get your new card.

I no longer have my old NYUCard, can I still get the new card?

In order to get your new NYUCard the old card must be surrendered. If you do not have the card you will need to pay a replacement fee of $15.00.

Employees and Affiliates
If you do not have your old NYUCard, you must present a New York University ID Card Authorization Form completed by the appropriate individual from your home department in order to receive the new NYUCard.

I think that I left my card at home. Can I pay the fee and then get a refund?

No, the old card must be turned in when you receive the new card.

I already have an iClass card, why do I need to get another one?

Your current iClass card does not have the new card design, and will not contain the new features associated with the new card.

I graduated in May and still need access to the library; can I get a new NYUCard?

No, in order to receive the new card you must be registered student in a current program. Contact the Alumni Office for more information on the Alumni card or you can obtain a day pass to the library.

What happens to my privileges (access, campus cash, meal plans, etc.) that were on the old card?

All privileges that you had on your old card will be converted to your new NYUCard. Please note that some privileges may not be available on your new card for at least 1 hour after receiving it.

What happens if my card doesn't work after an hour?

Call the NYUCard Services office during business hours at 212-443-2273, press option 1 and a representative will address your issue.
