NYU's Commitment to Affordability

Since 2021 NYU has met the full demonstrated need of our traditional first-year undergraduate students in New York without the expectation that students will take out loans.

President Linda G. Mills has expanded this commitment by announcing the NYU Promise.  Starting in Fall 2024, all undergraduates who start as full-time first year students in New York will not have to pay tuition if they have family income under $100,000 and hold typical assets.

The NYU Promise

For first year undergraduate students admitted to the NYU New York campus:

  • Families with income less than $100,000 will not have to pay tuition
  • NYU will meet 100% demonstrated need
  • Scholarships will be adjusted to meet tuition increases each year

Meeting 100% of Financial Need

NYU meets the full, demonstrated financial need of full-time, first year undergraduate students.

The Office of Financial Aid is Here to Help

We look forward to serving you and making sure you understand all your options.

We encourage you — no matter your financial situation — to apply for financial aid as soon as possible. We are unable to review the financial aid applications of students who file beyond the deadline, and our goal is to help all admitted students afford their NYU education.

NYU’s Office of Financial Aid can help you coordinate and understand these various options.
