NYU Plans 2031 will provide a strategic framework to guide NYU as it seeks to locate approximately six million square feet of space over the next 25 years. The space demands are delineated in two broad categories: academic and housing.
The plan will focus on the core campus in the Washington Square/Union Square/East Village area and develop a broad vision for this area. In addition, the plan will identify other NYU centers or areas within the City that could meet NYU's space demand. The premise of NYU Plans 2031 is that NYU would like to utilize its existing properties as efficiently and strategically as possible in order to limit its need for additional space.
Throughout the development of the planning process, NYU seeks to involve a diverse set of stakeholders including NYU administration, faculty, students, local community groups, and governmental officials and agencies.
