International Programs

International Programs include Latin American Projects, the World Health Organization (WHO)/Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Nursing Collaborating Center in Geriatric Nursing, Visiting Scholars, Study Abroad, Study Tours and Faculty Consultation and Exchange.

The WHO/PAHO CC seeks to advance geriatric nursing education and research in Latin America through 1) partnering with institutions, organizations and health ministries, 2) collaborating with Latin American partners in research and disseminating research findings, 3) designing and implementing innovative educational initiatives and 4) promoting faculty and student exchange. The WHO Collaborating Center in Geriatric Nursing Education was designated in 2003 and works closely with the John A. Hartford Foundation Institute for Geriatric Nursing Education. The Institute for Geriatric Nursing Education (see Centers and Institutes) is internationally known for its resources and expertise. Professor Tara Cortes serves as Executive Director and Professors Terry Fulmer and Elizabeth A. Capezuti, as Co-Directors.

Latin American Projects, with Beatrice Goodwin, Ph.D. Director, and adjunct faculty member, Eliana Horta, APRN-BC, include psychiatric and geriatric nursing education, consultation projects and cooperative agreements with National Nursing Organizations in Chile and Colombia.
