Faculty Resources

New York University has a rich array of resources that support the research, teaching, and service roles of faculty in the College of Nursing. As a major research and academic institution, NYU maintains an extensive state-of-the-art network of electronic and print library resources including the Elmer Holmes Bobst Library, one of the largest open-stack libraries in the nation and housing over 3 million volumes, the Frederick L. Ehrman Medical Library, and the Waldmann Memorial Dental Library . The University also has sophisticated resources to expand access to information necessary for researchers, educators, and clinicians. The Academic Computing Facility(ACF) is the central NYU organization responsible for communication, information and technology-based services for faculty, students, and staff. It maintains NYU/NET and supports over 40,000 users, maintains numerous campus computer labs, and coordinates administrative computing, client, network, and telecommunications services. The ACF also supports a specialized Innovation Center (IC) and its Information Technology Services (ITS). The IC is equipped with high-end computers, scanners, and software to develop and deliver distance education. The IC also supports Blackboard, our web-based teaching/learning platform. The NYU Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) supports NYU’s commitment to outstanding teaching and provides an opportunity for faculty to make significant contributions to the emerging scholarship of teaching. The CTE also provides a support system for teaching assistants as they learn what it means to be part of a learning community. CTE Programs available to the NYU faculty community address a wide array of innovative teaching/learning issues. The College of Nursing’s deep commitment to facilitating and enhancing faculty scholarship through research is evident in the Pless Center for Nursing Research. The Center’s mission is to improve health care through a research partnership between academic and clinical units of NYU. Consultation, grant development and management, statistical support and related research services are available to faculty.
