The New York University College of Nursing (NYUCN) announces the opening of the prestigious Mathy Mezey Professorship in Geriatric Nursing. This endowed chair honors the exceptional achievements of Dr. Mezey, the driving force in establishing the renowned geriatrics' program in the NYU College of Nursing. The successful applicant for this position will provide key leadership in expanding the College's preeminence in geriatric research and education.
As part of an ambitious strategic plan, the College has doubled its full-time faculty in the past four years and plans to build a new state-of-the-art nursing facility. Educational offerings at the College include Bachelor of Science degrees, Masters' degrees, Advanced Masters' certificate programs and the PhD. The College boasts six endowed chairs, 12 Fellows in the American Academy of Nursing, and major centers that include the Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing, the Muriel and Virginia Pless Center for Nursing Research and the Center for Drug Use and HIV Research. In addition, the College has achieved designation as a World Health Organization Collaborating Center.
Applicants must have an earned doctorate in nursing or a related field and be eligible for tenure. Demonstrated strength in academic leadership and a record of effective teaching, scholarship and successful external funding, as well as the ability to work in a collaborative team, are required.
