Prior to joining the NYU faculty, Dr. M. Katherine Hutchinson was on the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, where she served as the founding director of the Nursing Undergraduate Honors Program and faculty advisor for the Minorities in Nursing Organization. Dr. Hutchinson's program of research focuses on family, partner and social influences of HIV- and STI-related sexual risk behaviors among adolescent and young adult women and health disparities more broadly. She has served as principal investigator and co-investigator on several NIH-funded HIV prevention intervention trials and descriptive studies related to parent and partner influences of sexual risk behaviors. Dr. Hutchinson has published in many of the leading nursing and interdisciplinary journals and serves as a manuscript reviewer for Nursing Research, Research in Nursing and Health, Family Relations and Adolescent Health. Dr. Hutchinson was inducted as a fellow into the American Academy of Nursing in 2008and is currently the principal investigator of a four-year, NIH-funded project (R01 NR010478) to develop and test a mother-daughter HIV risk reduction intervention in Kingston, Jamaica.
