Michele Crespo-Fierro, RN, MS/MPH, AACRN is a 1990 graduate of the NYU CN baccalaureate program. After working at Tisch Hospital, she joined the VNSNY Hi-tech NOVA team. She also worked in the Adult Care and Hospice Programs. While completing a Double Master’s degree in Community Health Nursing and Community Health Education with a sub-specialty in HIV/AIDS from Hunter College, she joined the AIDS Project at VNSNY as a clinical nurse specialist. She was responsible for training all levels of care providers for the agency and consulting on new and current HIV/AIDS patients. She was part of the first cohort to be certified in HIV/AIDS care by HANCB in 1996 and assisted in the development of the Advanced AIDS Certified Registered Nurse credential in 2003.

She has authored various articles and book chapters on the home care of Persons living with HIV/AIDS. In 1998 while working as an adjunct clinical instructor at NYU CN in community health nursing, she was awarded the Outstanding Clinical Article of the Year Award by the Journal of the Association of AIDS Care and Sage Publications, Inc. for "Compliance/Adherence in HIV disease care management." She coordinated the Master’s level HIV/AIDS nursing care course in the summer 1999.

She returned to NYU CN as an adjunct clinical instructor in community health nursing in 2005. In 2006 she began coordinating the clinical placements for community health nursing, part-time. She joined the full-time faculty in May 2007. She is currently the course coordinator for Current Trends in Nursing, a NYU PreCollege course which is part of the Nursing Bound Program funded by the Alex Hillman Foundation, and clinical coordinator for Community Health Nursing, a baccalaureate course.

She is a native New Yorker of Puerto Rican heritage and lives in Fresh Meadows, Queens, with her husband, also a NYU graduate and two children.
