Research Interests / Professional Overview:

Dr. Maria C. Dolce is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Nursing and Coordinator of the Nursing Education Master's and Advanced Certificate Programs.  She shares a longstanding history with Nursing at New York University and serves as President-Elect of the NYU College of Nursing Alumni Board.  Dr. Dolce has over 30 years of professional practice experience in academic healthcare systems, where she has held clinical, educational and administrative nursing roles.  She earned board certifications in Nurse Executive Advanced practice from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and Healthcare Management from the American College of Healthcare Executives. Dr. Dolce is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.   

She joined the esteemed faculty at NYU College of Nursing in 2009, where she teaches in the Graduate Program.  Dr. Dolce is the Project Director for the NYU College of Nursing National Oral Health Initiative to develop a replicable model for implementing and disseminating a comprehensive oral health curriculum in nursing schools throughout the United States, as well as best practices for oral health in nurse-managed primary care settings.

Dr. Dolce's academic interests include curriculum development, educational technologies, teaching quality improvement and patient safety.  Her research interest centers on technology and its impact on the patient experience.  Dr. Dolce's dissertational research described the experiences of cancer survivors and caregivers with healthcare providers in the context of the Internet as a source for health information and resources. She is currently the Principal Investigator of a study exploring the impact of Internet cancer support groups and was a recipient of the Muriel and Virginia Pless Center for Nursing Research Pilot Award.
