The John A. Hartford Institute For Geriatric Nursing

GERONTOLOGICAL NURSING
CERTIFICATION REVIEW COURSE
Updated, October 2004

Please note: The Hartford Institute Gerontological Nurse Certification Review course is currently being revised to correspond to the new test content outline for tests scheduled on or after July 1, 2007 and will reflect the fundamental knowledge about care of the older adult that the registered nurse must master to be certified as a Gerontological Nurse by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association.

The existing content is still relevant and offers a summary of key clinical information and issues central to caring for the highly specialized needs of older adults, but should not be used as the sole preparatory resource.

The new ANCC test content outline can be viewed in the Gerontological Nurse Certification Application Form at: http://www.nursecredentialing.org/cert/PDFs/
