The Catherine B. Reynolds Foundation Program in Social Entrepreneurship

Established with a $10 million grant, The Catherine B. Reynolds Foundation Program in Social Entrepreneurship is unprecedented in its scope. Building on the resources of all fourteen of New York University's schools, the Program is a comprehensive initiative designed to equip the next generation of leaders with the skills needed to solve society's most intractable problems. Social entrepreneurship is an interdisciplinary, cross-sector approach to public service that is grounded in practical, sustainable, and scalable problem solving.

At the core of this broad initiative are highly competitive Undergraduate Scholarships and Graduate Fellowships. Each spring, 20 Graduate Fellows and 10 Undergraduate Scholars will be selected to participate in the two-year University-wide program, which is administered by the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service.

The NYU Reynolds Graduate Fellowship is open to new students accepted to any full-time, two-year master's degree program at NYU (with the exception of some executive programs), or students that are currently enrolled in the schools of law, medicine, dentistry, or some three-year Tisch School of the Arts programs and will have two years of study remaining beginning September 2008. Successful applicants will receive up to $25,000 for each of two years of study, and participate in an intensive two-year curricular and co-curricular component designed to help prepare them to be the next generation of social entrepreneurial leaders.

The NYU Reynolds Undergraduate Scholarship is open to all full-time undergraduate students who will be completing their sophomore years in any school at NYU in May 2009. Scholars will receive up to $20,000 for each of their final two years of study, a stipend for a relevant summer internship between junior and senior years, and dedicated programming that supports their vision and work as change makers. Up to ten Scholars will be named per year.

In addition, the Program will offer a full range of curricular and co-curricular activities for the entire University community:

  • The NYU Reynolds "Social Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century" Speaker Series
  • Specially designed course in social entrepreneurship
  • Social Entrepreneurial Advisory sessions
  • Seminars and workshops led by the Reynolds Expert Advisors
  • Summer internships and project-related work
  • Mentorship and research opportunities
  • Networking events

Applications for Graduate Fellowships and Undergraduate Scholarships for the 2008-2009 Academic Year are available on the NYU Reynolds website at http://www.nyu.edu/reynolds.
