Welcome to the College of Nursing at New York University!
Dear Friends,
I am filled with pride as we welcome to campus our exceptional new and returning students for the 2009-2010 academic year! We have received a record number of applications for our graduate and undergraduate programs, and we have enrolled over 1,200 nursing students this fall. Now is a moment in history that provides the opportunity for nurses to address the challenges facing the health care system. Here at the College, the quality of our student body is stronger than ever, and our graduates are prepared be leaders in reforming health care.
Our faculty has grown commensurate with our student body, and they are nationally and internationally renowned for their contributions to the profession. We have also expanded our opportunities for simulation learning with two additional state-of-the-art computerized patient simulation laboratories.
This January we will inaugurate our new Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program to respond to the need for new models of health care, the increasing educational challenges for advanced-practice nurses, and the burgeoning demand for clinical leaders.
Finally, I would like to welcome the Center for Drug Use and HIV Research (CDUHR). We recognize the seriousness of the epidemic and the need to educate nurses throughout New York City about appropriate care for those with HIV/AIDS. This Center-a hub of crucial research on the front lines of the AIDS crisis-further strengthens our focus on infectious disease research.
Thank you for your interest in NYU College of Nursing and continuing our conversation by looking through our web pages. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance.
