The National College Depression Partnership (NCDP) is a national healthcare quality improvement project focused on demonstrating improved depression care and outcomes at 20 college/university health centers. NCDP builds upon and expands the highly successful pilot College Breakthrough Series for Depression (CBS-D). This presentation will detail methods of primary care and mental health integration, overcoming barriers to change, principles of systematic coordinated care for managing depression, and an outcomes-driven approach that embraces process, clinical, and learning outcomes.

The College Breakthrough Series − Depression (CBS-D) was a regional healthcare quality improvement project conducted at 8 university health centers that sought to improve depression identification and treatment in college health centers. Major programmatic objectives included investigating potential health disparities and continued underutilization of mental health services for ethnic minorities. This program will detail efforts to study minority mental health disparities, address limitations in previous work, and report on current work designed to address limitations posed.

MacArthur Tool Kit

The MacArthur Foundation Initiative on Depression and Primary Care’s Depression Tool Kit - This tool kit is intended to help primary care clinicians recognize and manage depression. It includes instruments and information sources to assist with: recognizing and diagnosing depression; educating patients about depression, assessing treatment preferences, engaging their participation and explaining the process of care; using evidence-based guidelines and management tools for treating depression; and monitoring patient response to treatment.

Depression Collaborative Tool Kit

This manual outlines all of the key elements of a system of care for people with depression. It contains a Depression Care Model, an Improvement Model that consists of three fundamental questions, and a Plan-Do-Study-Act cycle to test and implement changes in real work settings.

National Electronic Library for Health

This resource provides support to primary care professionals, primary care organizations, and local user groups in their delivery of primary care mental health services. It addresses conditions frequently seen in primary care or those that have a high profile, which can be managed effectively by general practitioners and their teams, supported as appropriate by secondary care.
