The National College Depression Partnership (NCDP) is a college health consortium that utilizes a high-impact, cost-effective professional development approach to help clinicians to improve the recognition and treatment of depression among college students, and fortify existing health and mental health services.
NCDP is founded on principles of collaboration, shared learning, and quantifiable results. Since 2006, a diverse and dynamic community of university medical and counseling leaders from over 20 college health centers has been working together to demonstrate the impact of evidence based assessment and treatment practices on depression identification and treatment in college health.
Effective collaborative depression care relieves suffering, improves readiness to learn, and promotes student retention and success. We emphasize the benchmarking of healthcare quality via ongoing measurement of treatment outcomes with structured, well validated depression severity measures. Enhanced care in NCDP is demonstrated by clinical and functional outcomes data from over 2,000 students that exceed community standards.
NCDP was recently recognized for its accomplishments with the 2009 “Innovations in Quality Improvement Award” by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
We now embark on the next phase of the partnership: The NCDP - Collaborative Action Network (NCDP-CAN). There are two strategies that your institution can choose from to participate in NCDP-CAN: Comprehensive Change or Focused Change, each of which uses a unique guided learning method and is tailored to goals you wish to accomplish. To Join NCDP-CAN, complete a needs assessment by Monday, October 5, 2009.
