Course: Infectious Disease Epidemiology

Freya Fowkes, M.Sc., first developed her interest in infectious disease while an undergraduate at The University of Glasgow, UK. After obtaining her B.Sc. Honors degree in Parasitology she embarked on an M.Sc. in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Since then she has worked on aspects of infectious disease in maternal, infant and child health in developing countries with the Institute of Child Health, London and the University of Oxford. This has included conducting fieldwork projects in Papua New Guinea and Africa. Freya is currently finishing her Ph.D. on malaria epidemiology through the University of Oxford under the supervision of Professor Karen Day at NYU's Department of Medical Parasitology.
