Immigrant and refugee health
The UN Agency dedicated to the needs of refugees is the UNHCR (UN High Commissioner for Refugees). Their website offers statistics, evaluation reports, maps of refugee populations, numerous publications, and more.
A focus area of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is migration health, and its website has related documents and program information.
Refugees International, an advocacy and monitoring group, describes itself as “a powerful voice for lifesaving action” and its issues as neglected crises, return & reintegration, peacekeeping, internal displacement, statelessness, and climate displacement. Reports and publications of their findings, as well as recommendations, are available online and for download.
The Migration Policy Institute (MPI) is as “an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit think tank dedicated to analysis of the movement of people worldwide.” Some of its resources are U.S. focused but it is also active in European Migration, Migration and Development and Refugee Protection. Their website offers considerable data on multiple aspects of migration and migration’s impact.
The International Centre for Migration and Health (ICMH) describes its mandate as “research, training and policy advocacy in all areas related to migration and health,” and its website offers access to their blog and a list of links to key international agencies working with migration and health.
The Forced Migration Current Awareness Blog is a clearinghouse for latest academic and cultural resources on the issues and needs of refugees.
