There is a full programme of community service opportunities and trips, organized by the Student Life department. Community service offers a unique perspective on life in London, affording NYU London students the chance to meet people they would never otherwise get the opportunity to meet. The programmes also offer students an insight into areas of London and the UK that would often be inaccessible, and a different outlook on British culture.
We have established relationships with several organisations that allow our students to contribute to long-term projects; from volunteering in schools with the SHINE trust and Action Tutoring, to assisting elderly people in care homes with One Housing group. This sits alongside a programme of one-off trips, such as a series of soup kitchen shifts for students to participate in on a one-off basis, and impromptu events with organisations such as Trees for Cities and the Marine Conservation Society.
We also run two weekend trips, giving you the chance to volunteer outside of London and stay overnight with a group of NYU students. The Wales volunteering weekend takes around 40 students on an overnight trip to volunteer outside in the stunning Snowdonia National Park. We also run a trip together with NYU in Paris to Calais, France to work at the central distribution centre of Help Refugees UK, providing invaluable aid to refugees across Europe.
