As Director of the NYU Center for Spiritual Life, Yael is responsible for building its relationships with the community. Prior to joining the Center, Shy was the Director of Development and Education at the NYU Center on Violence and Recovery, where she led training sessions in restorative justice globally and secured multiple multi-year research support from the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Justice, among other foundations. Shy is the founder and Director of The Mindfulness Project at NYU. She was named one of the “36 under 36” changemakers transforming the Jewish world by the Jewish Week in 2010. Shy is also a bar-certified attorney. She has been published in the Sports Lawyers Journal, the Clinical Journal of Social Work, and the NYU Journal of Law and Social Justice.
