The NYU LGBTQ Student Center is currently accepting applications for an Office Assistant, Interactive Media Coordinator, Student Programming Coordinator, and OUTSpoken Peer Educator Coordinator. For more information or to apply, please see the links below!

 

PRIORITY DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS MONDAY, JUNE 1, 2015 AT 5PM.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

 


Office Assistant (General)

  • Coordinate Petty Cash process for the office
  • Manage technology for the Center and TrackIt! requests, including printers, computers, and server
  • Assist with the management of the Lounge library and tracking system (Delicious Library)
  • Manage Center storage and fridge
  • Oversee lounge maintenance and organization
  • Oversee the change of the window display on a semester basis
  • Support the daily functions of the office, including office maintenance, and answering the phone.
  • Other duties as assigned, as well as opportunities to work on other projects of interest


Interactive Media Coordinator

  • Document (which includes recording, editing, and post-editing) Marquee Events related to Storytelling and Performance Series and Reel Queer Film Series
  • Assist with research, planning, development and implementation of Center’s social media campaigns
  • Reply to messages and inquires on Facebook and Twitter
  • Coordinate social media campaigns around large events such as Ally Week
  • Updating the Facebook and Twitter page via the Buffer App
  • Create a strong Tumblr presence for the Center
  • Working in tandem with the graphic designers for images for social media
  • Work with Program Administrator to make sure all Center events are documented via photography and/or video
  • Create archiving system within the L Drive for video projects
  • Upload finalized videos to the Center’s Vimeo account
  • Serve as production coordinator for jobs that require acting, working with talent, securing location, etc.
  • Assist with Programming, as needed
  • Support the daily functions of the office, including office maintenance, and answering the phone.
  • Other duties as assigned, as well as opportunities to work on other projects of interest


Student Programming Coordinator

  • Plan and coordinate Quench Lunch Series, a biweekly lunch and conversation series.
  • Assist Program Administrator with programming planning, coordination, and implementation, including Welcome Week/Back to the Square, Pride Month, heritage months, and other collaborative programming.
  • Coordinate Reading Rainbow Book Club, a LGBTQ-themed book discussion group.
  • Support Program Administrator with lounge-based programs, including QueeRelax, Snowfairy Festival, and Cafe Q
  • Support with Program Administrator’s Wall Calendar
  • Support the daily functions of the office, including office maintenance, and answering the phone.
  • Other duties as assigned, as well as opportunities to work on other projects of interest


NYU LGBTQ Student Center’s Mission Statement
The NYU LGBTQ Student Center exists to create campus environments that are inclusive and supportive of student diversity in the areas of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression.

The Center accomplishes its mission by:

  • Creating a welcoming environment for all people interested in developing their understanding of LGBTQ issues.
  • Helping students to build communities of care, inclusion, support, and trust.
  • Recognizing and exploring the ability, age, ethnicity, gender, health, language, national origin, race, religion, and socioeconomic differences in the LGBTQ student population.
  • Celebrating how differences in the LGBTQ student population can enrich campus and local communities.
  • Providing direct service to LGBTQ students and their allies in the forms of advising, advocacy, career networking, counseling and referral, education and training, event sponsorship and co-sponsorship, leadership development, and weekly discussion groups
  • Providing consultation, education and training, and resources to faculty, staff, University offices, and others interested in ensuring that their services are inclusive and supportive of LGBTQ issues
