New York University Current Active Fraternities and Sororities

As of April of 2011, all active fraternities and sororities at New York University must abide by the same Fraternity and Sorority Life Recognition Policy for New and Active Groups in order remain recognized and in good standing with the University. Please pay attention to the specific deadlines in the attached document in order to assure that your chapter remains recognized by New York University.

New Interest Groups

In order to apply for recognition as a Fraternity or Sorority Interest Group at New York University, interested parties must thoroughly read the Fraternity and Sorority Life Recognition Policy for New and Active Groups and submit the NYU FSL Interest Group application to the FSL office on the 7th floor of the Kimmel Center by 5pm on Friday, September 30th.

Colony/Provisional Group Status

The Colony/Provisional recognition status describes the University's conditional approval for a specific period.  Provisional recognition will be applied during the establishment of a new fraternity or sorority chapter at New York University, following the Interest Group Status.

Full Recognition Status (Chapter Status)

Colonies/Provisional organizations may apply for Full Recognition no less than one semester and no more than two years after becoming a colony at New York University.
