New York University Current Active Fraternities and Sororities

As of April of 2011, all active fraternities and sororities at New York University must abide by the same Fraternity and Sorority Life Recognition Policy for New and Active Groups in order to remain recognized and in good standing with the University. Please pay attention to the specific deadlines in the attached document in order to assure that your chapter remains recognized by New York University.

New Interest Groups

Currently, New York University's Fraternity and Sorority Life is closed for expansion as efforts with our professional staff, advisors, students, and other constituents are working with current colonies. Further updates will be provided as necessary from our fraternity and sorority professional staff members.

New York University FSL Interest Group Applications

Colony/Provisional Group Status

The Colony/Provisional recognition status describes the University's conditional approval for a specific period.  Provisional recognition will be applied during the establishment of a new fraternity or sorority chapter at New York University, following the Interest Group Status.

Full Recognition Status (Chapter Status)

Colonies/Provisional organizations may apply for Full Recognition no less than one semester and no more than two years after becoming a colony at New York University.
