The Inter-Greek Council (IGC) serves as the umbrella organization that recognizes and governs all social fraternities and sororities at NYU. The IGC serves as a facilitator for all community issues, and coordinates service, leadership, and educational services in collaboration with the other councils. It also serves as a peer board for fraternity and sorority judicial issues. As the chief governing body of the FSL community, the overall goal of IGC is to enhance the fraternity and sorority presence both on and off campus.
The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) functions as the umbrella organization for multicultural fraternities and sororities whose purpose is for the exploration and enhancement of one or more cultures. MGC builds community within their membership and the NYU community, and provides a forum for addressing issues that affect member organizations. Membership of the National Association of Latino Fraternal Organization and the National Pan-Hellenic Council are a part of the MGC.
The Panhellenic Council (PhC) serves as the governing body for national and local social sororities at NYU. As an affiliate with the National Panhellenic Conference, the PHC is part of a nationwide network of women's fraternities and sororities reaching over 620 college and university campuses in the United States and Canada. The PHC provides a forum for sororities to work together to unify policies and to resolve issues that may arise. Through programs and services, the PHC supports NYU sororities by promoting values, education, leadership, friendships, cooperation, and citizenship.
