OUR PROGRAMMING INCLUDES
WEEKLY SITTING MEDITATION
The type of meditation we practice at The Mindfulness Project involved simple — but not always easy! — breath and awareness exercises that bring our attention to the present moment. Through this practice, we relax and rejuvenate our bodies, see the world around us more clearly, and act with more compassion towards ourselves and others.
Our meditation practice is enriched with teachings from a variety of spiritual traditions as well as lessons from our own personal lives. Meditations consist of two periods of twenty minute meditations, with guidance as needed, and a twenty minute discussion or exercise.
YOGA
The Mindfulness Project offers yoga and other body-based practices several times during the week. These classes are taught by certified, dynamic, experienced teachers from all over the city. Classes focus not just on physical fitness and health but also on connecting to our center and finding peace through meditation-in-movement. The Mindfulness Project also hosts special yoga/movement workshops and programs for the NYU community.
MINDFULNESS PROGRAMMING
Special events, guest lectures and workshops will examine what spirituality means and how it relates to our everyday lives.
How does mindfulness intersect with social justice? Our environment and the food we eat? Art, poetry, dance, and music? Sex and the body? Birth, death, old age, and illness?
SOCIAL JUSTICE
Mindfulness-themed movie nights, hikes, craft nights, and more! Check the calendar for upcoming events.
