Kick off the new academic year by meeting fellow new and returning students of color (African American/Black, Arab American, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Latino/Hispanic American, Native American/American Indian/Alaskan Native, and Biracial/Multiracial) and allies at the Center for Multicultural Education and Programs (CMEP) Welcome. Hear from keynote speaker Matiangai Sirleaf , NYU Alumna, Sharswood Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and former attorney in the International Human Rights Practice Group at Cohen Milstein. Meet some current student leaders, grab some give-aways, then join us for the CMEP Open House!

After the Students of Color and Allies Welcome, join the Center for Multicultural Education and Programs (CMEP) staff, special guests and students for refreshments, food and lively conversation in our student lounge. Meet the Diversity Team at NYU and other staff across the campus community who are committed to supporting you in your transition to NYU. The evening will conclude with Ask an Admin, where you can meet staff from different departments across the university who will help you get acclimated to NYU! Grab a ticket at the door for a chance to win movie tickets or a fee waiver for the NYU Passport Drive 2012! Light refreshments and appetizers will be served.
LGBTQ Students of Color & Allies Welcome Reception

Join us for a reception hosted by the Center for Multicultural Education and Programs (CMEP) and the LGBTQ Student Center. An opportunity to meet and greet with other lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students, faculty and staff of color and their allies. Enjoy some fun activities, learn about what CMEP and the LGBTQ Student Center have to offer, and celebrate the beginning of the new year! Light refreshments and appetizers will be served.
