Fifth Annual High School Social Justice Expo
Thursday, May 9, 2013, 12:00-2:00 PM
Kimmel Center for Student Life, Eisner & Lubin Auditorium (4th floor)
The Fifth Annual High School Social Justice will draw over 300 NYU High School Students and Educators to the NYU Kimmel Center for Student Life. Over 35 projects will be on display that will range in topic including immigration, teen pregnancy, the environment, gun violence, tolerance, discrimination, poverty, housing, and education.
After several months of analyzing pressing social issues at their respective schools and youth organizations, students of all grade levels have an opportunity to share their findings and network with other young researchers and organizers, college students, community leaders, elected officials, and foundation representatives. Student participants and guest judges—including college professors, community organizers, and nonprofit leaders—provide immediate and specific feedback. Every project is publicly recognized for its strengths and achievements.
Attend the Social Justice Expo as an individual, or bring a group, to support the amazing work of NYC youth!
The Social Justice Expo is organized collaboratively by committee composed of volunteer members from Brooklyn International High School, Validus Preparatory Academy, Bushwick School for Social Justice, the Education for Liberation Network, Make the Road New York, Total Equity Now and the Center for Multicultural Education and Programs at New York University.
