About Us

NYU CMEP's Mission

In the words of New York University President John Sexton, "diversity is indispensable to NYU's pursuit of excellence". Playing a crucial role in advancing this vision, The NYU Center for Multicultural Education and Programs (NYU CMEP) produces intentional and sustained educational initiatives and campus-wide programs in the area of diversity and social justice. Through collaborations with a broad range of students, faculty, administrators and community partners NYU CMEP’s efforts are designed to make an institutional impact in enhancing intercultural awareness and offer compelling ways to explore the complex intersection of gender, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic class, race, or ethnicity, or disability status.

Furthermore, NYU CMEP commits to providing academic and personal support to diverse students that fosters the highest achievement. To accomplish these goals and develop the most effective pedagogy and curriculum in the field NYU CMEP looks to national models, research and assessment that will measure desired outcomes.
