Graduate Safe Zone Training Certification

The Graduate Safe Zone Training Certification Program is open to future Student Affairs professionals devoted to campus social justice education, outreach, and advocacy regarding issues of sexual orientation and gender identity and expression. Safe Zone programs are nationally recognized as a means to create a campus community that understands, welcomes, and supports the identity and experience of LGBTQA students.

The goal the Graduate Safe Zone Training Certifcation Program is two-fold:

1. Provide an opportunity for graduate students to train different groups at New York University, often in conjunction with our Center's OUTSpoken Peer Educators.

2. Provide graduate students with the admninistrative skills and content knowledge to establish or stregnthen Safe Zone programs at their future institutions.

As a certified member of the Safe Zone training team, participants will complete an intensive training on issues that are current and necessary to the understanding of the concerns in the LGBTQ community.

Space is limited this year, so applicants are encouraged to apply early!

Applications Due: October 21st

Notification of Acceptance: October 25th

Mandatory One-Day Training: November 3rd from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM

**If an applicant has not had some form of Safe Zone training in the past, they are still very much encouraged to apply as there is a standard Safe Zone training built into the program.**

***This training will not be offered again until the Fall of 2013***
