Dear Members of the NYU Community,
I am pleased to write this letter of support for the inaugural launch of NYU Ally Week, a community focused and collaborative initiative conceived by the NYU Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Student Center and the Center for Multicultural Education and Programs, in partnership with a number of other Student Affairs units.
NYU has a proud legacy of commitment to diversity. It is a core value that is indeed indispensable to our pursuit of excellence in and out of the classroom. University-wide initiatives such as NYU Ally Week strengthen this commitment by fostering opportunities for students, faculty, and administrators to deepen their understanding of the experiences of others and raise awareness of the individual and collective injustices that confront many in our society. NYU Ally Week provides us an important and new opportunity to support community at NYU.
I encourage you to get involved in the dynamic activities of NYU Ally Week that offer a platform to exhibit and explore your dedication to the community, that will hone your skills to speak up in instances of intolerance, and to explore the many aspects of diversity that exist here at NYU-both domestically and globally.
In support of the many diverse communities that exist here at NYU, NYU Ally Week will enable all of us to be active participants in further developing a community of care, inclusion, and support.
Please join me by participating in NYU Ally Week. Your participation will support the values of diversity and inclusion that we hold dear and strengthen our community.
Become an NYU Ally.
