 The Office of Residential Life and Housing Services at New York University is dedicated to providing the most diverse and best possible staff to serve our students. Our staff come from many different experiences and offer multiple talents to enrich and foster our strong residential communities. Professional Staff Position Descriptions

Residence Hall Directors

The Residence Hall Directors (RHDs) direct all programs and services for their assigned residence hall and leads a three person management team. The RHDs supervise a full time Residence Hall Assistant Director and a full time Residence Hall Resource Manager. They provide crisis intervention, counseling and “on-duty” coverage for residents. They have oversight of the front desk and all occupancy management of the building. The RHD also advises students and collaborates with staff and faculty to create living and learning communities that enrich the students University experience.

This is a 12 month, master's level, full time, live-in position.

Residence Hall Resource Manager

The Residence Hall Resource Managers (RHRMs) are professional staff members who are part of the building leadership team and responsible for managing the resource center of the residence hall. They oversee many of the administrative process in the hall such as, check-in/opening day, room condition status, room changes, room key management and guest passes. The RHRM serves as liaison between students, staff, and Facilities Operations. They create a welcoming environment for the hall and deal with on sight crisis management.

This is a 12 month, full time, live-off position.

Residence Hall Assistant Director

The Residence Hall Assistant Director (RHAD) is a member of the building leadership team. They supervise the Resident Assistants and oversee community development and programming for the building. RHADs advise the hall councils and work with student leaders to provide educational opportunities for residents. They provide crisis intervention, counseling, and on-call coverage for the campus.

This is a 12 month, full time, bachelor's level position. Some positions live-in and some live-out.
