The recently renovated Hayden Hall is a thriving, social community that houses about 700 first-year students. Its proximity to Washington Square Park allows for easy access to classes, the library, the Kimmel Center, subways, and all that Greenwich Village has to offer. The Hayden Team consists of two live-in professional staff members (Residence Hall Director and Residence Hall Assistant Director), one Residence Hall Resource Manager, 15 Resident Assistants, and 1 Resource Center Assistant to help you connect to NYU, your classmates, and many of the great experiences this university and city have to offer. Hayden is also home to two Faculty Fellows in Residence (John Moran with partner Kenneth French, and Tae Hong Park with his family) who plan programs and events to meet and regularly engage with residents. Additionally, we have 3 Explorations communities within Hayden this year: the NYU Show, The French House, and The Spanish Floor. Each Explorations community has its own Faculty Affiliate who works closely with the floor. And, of course, we have the Advisory Residence Council of Hayden (also known as A.R.C.H.), which serves as the residence hall government. A.R.C.H. is responsible for organizing events throughout the year specifically for Hayden residents! They also advocate for hall improvements and act as liaisons to other residence hall governments. Traditionally, A.R.C.H. hosts a talent show, Halloween party, Relay for Life fundraisers, Broadway show outings, and so much more!
Hayden’s amenities include wi-fi throughout the building, a large common room with a community kitchen, a game room, and multiple group and quiet study lounges. The basement contains music rooms, a dance practice room, and a new commuter lounge. Lastly, the Hayden Dining Hall represents NYU Dining’s sustainable and healthy eating initiatives and is located on the main level of the building.
