The professional staff consists of a Residence Hall Director (RHD), Residence Hall Assistant Director (RHAD) and a Residence Hall Resource Manager (RHRM) all who have offices in either the Residential Life and Hosuing Services Office or the Resource Center. All staff living in the hall serve as amazing resources to residents and work hard to help build strong communities on all floors and throughout the entire building.

Hi there! My name is Tera Nakata, and I am excited to be the Residence Hall Director (RHD) here at 2nd Street. I originally hail from Fresno, California (central cal), graduated with a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications from the University of California, Berkeley, and then worked as a Resident Director there before leaving the "Best" coast :) and heading out to NY.  I have my Master's in Higher Ed / Student Affairs from Steinhardt, and this is my fifth year here at NYU. Though I have much love for California, I have to admit that NY is definitely turning out to be a pretty awesome place to live. As I continue to familiarize myself with the different areas of the city, I challenge you, too, to step out of your comfort zone this year and take the time to explore areas of the diverse New York community that you have yet to discover. I do believe that there really is something for everyone here. If you are having trouble finding something to love about New York, want to share tips on great places to explore, or just want to stop in and say hello, feel free to stop by my office and I'll be there for you :)

Hello! My Name is Chamika Vasquez and I'm a native New Yorker. I have lived here all of my life in the city which we New Yorkers say, "The city never sleeps in the big apple".

I'm the Resident Hall Resource Manager here at 2nd St. I've been working with NYU for about 10 years. I have worked in three different departments within the University, and I love working at NYU. I would say it is an amazing feeling working here. I just want to say, “I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.” I will leave you with this quote. Best, Chamika Vasquez-Morrison

Greetings current and prospective 2nd Street community members! I’m beyond excited to become part of the 2nd Street family for the upcoming academic year and serve as the Residential Life Assistant (RLA). I was born and raised in California and spent 8 years living in San Diego where I attended UC San Diego for undergrad and then worked at UC San Diego in both Residential Life and Student Affairs before moving to New York in 2011 to begin a graduate program in Educational Leadership, Politics, & Advocacy at Steinhardt.  I tried not to waste any time in getting involved in the NYU and NYC communities and thus spent the last year working for an education non-profit and America Reads; involved in the Steinhardt Grad Student Organization, NYU Alternative Breaks, and the Graduate Leadership Council; and squeezing in as many fun events throughout NYC as possible.  I enjoy learning new bits of knowledge and about people’s experiences, so I look forward to learning from all of YOU!
