Welcome to Hayden!

Hayden Hall, located right on Washington Square, is a dynamic community of almost 700 first-year students from all of NYU's schools. Within the building we have 15 Resident Assistants here to help you connect to NYU, your classmates, and many of the great experiences this university and city have to offer. Hayden is also home to two Faculty Fellows in Residence (Michael Dinwiddie and John Moran with partner Kennith French) who live in the hall and plan programs and events to meet and regularly engage with residents. We have three Explorations communities within Hayden this year: the NYU Show, The French House, and Artists in Development. Each Explorations community has its own Faculty Affiliate who works closely with the floor.

The year will provide a host of programs so that you can get to know fellow Hayden residents and explore NYU, New York City, and surrounding areas. Hayden staff will make sure you have the opportunity to get involved in movie nights, museum days, book clubs, Broadway show events, talent shows, study groups, as well as Hayden Senate, our very own hall government where you can run for an elected position or serve on the general assembly. Being at the heart of NYU is sure to make any student’s experience a great one and with our campus-friendly location you will see why so many students love Hayden!

As for some of our amenities, Hayden has two study lounges, one with WiFi access, which many residents find to be the best places to cram before an exam. There is also a Practice Room, Piano Room, and Game Room in the basement for your convenience.  Lastly, the Hayden Dining Hall represents NYU Dining’s sustainable and healthy eating initiatives and is located on the main level of the building.

Hayden Hall has a great community and we are excited to welcome you as part of it!

Hello! My name is Charlie Braun and I am the Residence Hall Director for Hayden Hall.  I'm originally from South Florida, but have spent the better part of the last 20 years in the Atlanta metro area. I completed my undergraduate work at Kennesaw State University and then continued on to graduate school at the University of Central Florida where I earned a Master's degree in Educational Leadership. Outside of work, I love to exercise, spend time with friends, cook, and engage any new adventure that comes my way.
I hope that each resident truly makes the most of the experience while living at Hayden. There is a lot to look forward to in the coming year and I encourage you to get involved in the many opportunities provided. We have engaging faculty members who live in our hall, three Explorations floors, 15 dynamic Resident Assistants, and a very active hall council. If at any time you have questions, concerns, or just want to say hello, please stop by my office located on the first floor. Once again I want to welcome you to NYU and Hayden Hall!

Welcome! My name is Rob Quash and I am the Residence Hall Resource Manager of Hayden Hall. I was born in New York City but now live in Jersey City. NYU has been a part of me my entire life (my mom starting working here before I was born). I became a full-time employee 15years ago.  I love to BBQ (coal not gas),the Yankees, the Giants, 24, Sci-Fi/Horror, music and dogs. I know a lot of history about most of the buildings on the main campus of NYU because I used to play in them as a kid.  Feel free to stop by the Resource Center on the 1stfloor for any questions, concerns, or just wanting some place to hang out and get a chance to meet and get to know the staff and your fellow Haydenites. I look forward to a great year and having some great experiences within Hayden this year.

Hello everyone! My name is Alma Buljina and I am the Residence Hall Assistant Director for Hayden Hall. I am originally from Winston-Salem, NC. I earned my Bachelors from NC State University with a major in psychology and a minor in Spanish. I also earned my Masters in Higher Education Administration from NC State University. I love coffee, traveling, volunteering, and exploring New York City! I have a huge passion for service-learning and leadership development. I am excited to meet all of you so please do not hesitate to stop by my office on the first floor to say hi!
