Welcome!

Goddard Hall is the University's only Residential College for first-year students, located right on Washington Square Park--literally steps away from three different dining halls, Bobst Library, most classrooms, and the Kimmel Student Center. We're at the crossroads of NYC's liveliest neighborhoods: Greenwich Village, SoHo, the East Village, and the Lower East Side!

The Residential College at Goddard is organized around the vital theme of citizen engagement and our 200 students affiliate with one of six themed "streams," which range from social justice issues to "Poverty & Affluence" to affinity-based streams devoted to "Writing New York" or "All the World's a Stage."  The community at Goddard is one of the most socially engaging on campus.   Along with our terrific Residence Hall Director, Tyler Crisman, Residence Hall Assistant Director, Justin Lerner,  six amazing Resident Assistants, Goddard’s “Faculty-Fellow-in-Residence”  Carley Moore and Matt Longabucco are a visible and active member of the Goddard Residential College community.  Participating in the Residential College at Goddard will provide First-year students a terrific home to establish a solid footing for a successful NYU student career.

Hi there! My name is Tyler Crisman and I am the Residence Hall Director for the Residential Colleges. I am originally from Lusk, WY but most recently came to NYC from Ft. Collins, CO. This will be my fifth year at NYU.  I received my Bachelors in Journalism and Mass Communication & Speech Communication from the University of Northern Colorado, and I received my Masters Degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Colorado State University, One of my favorite things to do is to travel - I have visited many places in the United States, as well as I have backpacked extensively in other countries. I am a big fan of music (listening to, playing, writing), movies, intellectual conversations, and social justice work. So stop by and let's chat! I greatly enjoy meeting and getting to know many people who are very different from me. If there is any way I can be a resource, please come by my office (located on the 3rd Floor) or email/call me. I am really excited for the opportunity to work closely with the faculty, staff and students of the RC to create a vibrant and exciting living-learning community. Have a successful year!

Hello! My name is Justin Lerner, and I am the Residence Hall Assistant Director for Goddard Residential College. I am thrilled to be in my 3rd year here at Goddard. I am originally from Omaha, NE. I earned my bachelor's degree from Washington University in St. Louis with a major in psychology and a minor in Women and Gender Studies. I also earned a Master of Social Work from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in which I focused my concentration on Social Justice Advocacy and clinical work.  Currently I am enrolled in the Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) program at the Wagner School of Public Service. Some of my favorite activities include exploring NYC via walking, going to Broadway shows, exploring all of the amazing vegetarian restaurants in NYC, and playing volleyball and softball. I would say that my passions in life are social justice and service to others.  I love integrating these passions in my work with students in order to help develop and mentor leaders. I am someone who cares deeply about the well being of others, and I am very much looking forward to serving as a mentor and advisor this year in Goddard.  I am excited to get to know each and every one of you!  Please feel free to stop by my office on the first floor and say hi.
