About Us

The Office of Residential Life and Housing Services exists to provide quality service and enhance student success in a safe and diverse living/learning community that fosters individual growth. Our residence halls are an extension of the classroom; we seek to provide experiences that will help our residents develop into global citizens. We are committed to providing our students with an inclusive, healthy and welcoming home.

Approximately 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students reside in our 21 residence halls that are spread out across lower Manhattan. Each residence hall is led by a leadership team including a Residence Hall Director, Residence Hall Resource Manager and Residence Hall Assistant Director. In addition, each building has Resident Assistants (student leaders) to provide assistance and community building initiatives for residential students at NYU. We work in tandem with several other departments across the University, including the Department of Public Safety, Facilities, Construction and Management and the academic schools to ensure a high level of quality service for our students.
