NYU's Outstanding Service Awards, sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs, recognizes individual students and teams of students for their extraordinary contributions to the NYU or local community, their leadership, and their community-building skills that exemplify the values of an NYU education.

The committee seeks nominations from all of NYU’s schools and academic departments that reflect the talents, commitment, and contributions of NYU’s diverse student community.

Award Nomination and Selection

All members of the University community can nominate an outstanding individual student and/or team of students for the NYU Outstanding Service Awards. Completed nominations must be received no later than by 11:59pm (EST) on April 7, 2020.

Award nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee comprised of University members from the following areas, who will present a slate of recommendations to University leadership for final review and selection:

  • University Senate Councils (deans, faculty, staff, and student government)
  • NYU's Office of Global Inclusion, Diversity, and Strategic Innovation
  • Student Affairs at the School and University levels, including Abu Dhabi, New York, and Shanghai

Criteria/Eligibility

  • The contribution enhances community life and collaboration with others and shows initiative, thoughtfulness, and good intent towards others
  • The contribution has taken place during the current academic year and aligns with NYU community values of inclusion and respect for others
  • Individual students and teams of students (comprised of no more than 10 students) are eligible for recognition
  • The nominated individual/team has worked to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion through their individual or team efforts
  • The nominated individual/team must be currently enrolled at NYU, or have graduated no earlier than December 2019, and may be based in New York, Abu Dhabi, or Shanghai
  • The nominated individual/team must be in good academic and conduct standing
  • Neither individuals nor teams may self-nominate
