considered of primary importance, it may be given first, regardless of its listing here. Do not
spend much time deciding where to place the note and do not bother to change the order of notes
on member copy. When appropriate, combine two or more notes to make one note.
Examine existing 500 notes to determine whether they are local or general. There has
been member copy with local/copy-specific information in field 500 that has not included $5
indicating it is a local note. If the note does not apply to NYU's copy, delete the field.
Inclusion here does not mean that you are expected to create all these kinds of notes. They are
given as examples of notes you may encounter when revising member copy. Use your judgment
and abilities in deciding whether to create a note.
