Part of cleaning up in Advance 6.8 is the need to remove the Bound PIECES Type of Holdings.

Some things to be aware of before moving any Type of Holdings (TOH)...

• How many locations are there. (You want to make sure you are only moving your pieces.)
• Is the TOH where you will be moving the pieces cleaned up. (If not, clean up the rest of the record first.)

Once the record is clean except for the Bound PIECES...

1. "Go to" "Type of Holdings Display"



2. In the Type of Holding Summary screen select " parts".



3. In the Type of Holding Detail screen select item "# item" for the Bound PIECES description.



4. Listed in the Parts Summary will be all of the Bound PIECES type of holdings.



5. Select "Move #(s)" and list all of the parts you need to move.
   (e.g. 1 or 1,2,4 or 1-4 or 1,3-4) ENTER.



The following question will appear:

# of # can be moved. Do you want to move them (Y/N)? "Y" (yes)


6. In the Type of Holding Summary select "# item" of the TOH where you would like the parts moved




This will take you back to and empty Pieces Summary. "Exit".



7. You will now be back to the Type of Holding Detail. You can now "Delete" this TOH for you have moved all of the attached parts to a new TOH and there is nothing attached to this record.



The following question will appear:

Okay to delete type of holding record (Y/N)? "Y" (yes)

This takes you back to the Type of Holding Summary.




All of the pieces from the Bound PIECES type of holding have been moved. However, if you go into Checkin serials the pieces now show up as (Not expected). Do not worry, they show up in Parts and in the OPAC display.

1. "Go to" "Parts Display".
   
   
2. In the Parts Summary select the "# item" of the piece that needs updated. (You can only update one piece at a time)
   
   
3. Now in the Parts Detail you need to update #2. Publication Pattern.
   
   
   • Select "# item" 2 in the Parts Detail.
     
     
   • Enter "??" to link the TOH to the correct pub. pattern
     
     
   • In the Publication Pattern Summary select the "# item" of the correct pub. pattern.
     
     
   • Back in the Parts Detail - "File"
     
     
   • Continue doing this for each piece to obtain a CLEAN record.
   
   
   
4. Now "Go to" "Pub. pattern display".
   
   
5. In the Publication Pattern Summary "Delete item(s)" of the incorrect pub. patterns.
   
   
   The following question will appear:
   
   1 of 1 can be deleted. Delete it (Y/N)? "Y" (yes)
   
   ***Do Not delete the pub. pattern if you get the following message:
   
   (You will end up deleting parts and barcodes.)
   
   Errors/Warnings encountered for attached PIECES record(s)
   -----------------------------------------------------------------
   PIECES errors/warnings encountered for PUBPAT record at line 1
   --> WARNING - Publication pattern has attached parts
   
   
   You must go back to pieces and figure our which piece you did not update to the correct pattern. (It all takes time and patience.)
   
   
   

   Once you are done you will have CLEAN records.
