Hold Searching using AdvPac

Take a shelf of books from the Hold. Mark the shelf with your name on a Post-it.

Start with a search in OCLC in AdvPac for the book. If you don’t find a good matching record, go to the next book. If you find a match, push the record to AdvCat. [Do not search for these again in RLIN; they will be searched against the RLIN database in the next Marcadia process.]

With the pushed record on your screen in AdvCat, highlight the title in the 245 and do a title search (highlighting the title saves you from needing to retype it in the search box).

Open the matching title, then click on the Edit button. You’ll now have the acq record on top of the pushed record. Replace the record.

Edit the record as needed and shelf-list call number. Save the record.

Go to AdvHoldings. Select “BIB from AdvCat” then click on the Last button.

Complete the item information as usual.

Go back to AdvPac and search for the next book. Repeat the above steps for each book from the Hold shelf.

Put books not found in OCLC back on Hold shelf in LCN order. Indicate “done” and “date” on Post-it on the shelf.
