N.B. "B" is used for "blank" in indicator, etc. positions; "$" is used for the delimiter marker. The
following guideline assumes we have a print copy with a remotely accessed location. You can
export and follow the guidelines for printed monographs with the following modifications.

856 Electronic location and access - Copy this information, including the MARC tag into
Notepad. Double check the copied information and then delete the field from the bib record.
Keep this information to include in the holdings record. Keep a Netscape session open, and
copy and paste the URL to check the link. Notify the Special Formats Cataloger (currently
Sueyoung Park) if the link is broken.
Holdings record:
In Holdings edit (usually single-part), select Locations display and add the following
information: location = NYU; sublocation = Internet; collection code = BobCatPlus; call number
(if not available from the print record, see Special Formats Cataloger); call number suffix =
Electronic access; circ code = INET1. Then select MARC holdings and insert the following
fields:

- Original versus reproduc: | (fill character)

- Dimensions: n (not applicable)
- Sound: Retain if given. Or use: u (unknown)
Variable field
856 41 $u -- enter the copied URL information from the bib record below the 852 field. If
copying and pasting, be careful not to paste more than one line of text; ADVANCE will lock
your record if you paste more than one line.
Once these fields have been added, select Accept to record your input, followed by File.
