ADVANCE 6.8 Holdings Record Definitions



The Location Copy Summary screen displays a list of existing Location-Copy records. From this screen, you can choose a particular record for editing, add another Location-Copy, delete an unlinked record, or move a Location-Copy (with all attached Pieces) to another bibliographic record.

The Location Copy Detail screen displays a particular Location-Copy record, which stores the Institution, Sublocation, Collection, Call # prefix, Call number, and Call # suffix data. From this screen, you can edit this information or jump to see which Pieces are linked to this Location-Copy.

The Pieces Summary screen displays a list of existing Piece records. From this screen, you can choose a particular record for editing, add another Piece, delete a record, or move a Piece to another Location-Copy or bibliographic record.

The Pieces Detail screen displays a particular Piece record, which stores the Barcode, Circ. Code, Public and Non-public notes. From this screen, you can edit this information, create a "binding" link, or change the Piece's status. The Piece's Current Location information and Volume numbering actually reside in linked records, which you can jump to by using the ?? command.

The Type of Holding Summary screen displays a list of existing Type of Holding records. From this screen, you can choose a particular record for editing, add another Type of Holding, or delete an unlinked record.

The Type of Holding Detail screen displays a particular Type of Holding record (i.e., whether the linked Pieces are basic bibliographic units (Volumes), Supplements, or Indexes). From this screen, you can edit this information or jump to see Patterns and Parts which are linked to this Type of Holding. Also by choosing the Parts Summary screen, you can Sequence parts which are linked to the same Type of Holdings record.

The Publication Pattern Summary screen displays a list of existing Publication Pattern records. From this screen, you can choose a particular record for editing, add another Publication Pattern, or delete an unlinked record.

The Publication Pattern Detail screen displays a particular Publication Pattern (i.e., the label(s) and hierarchical levels of the volumes, such as v., pt., Bd., T., no., (unit), etc.). From this screen, you can edit the labels or change the regularity pattern. Also by choosing the Second screen, you can change the Caption evaluation to 3 for volumes with missing levels.

The Parts Summary screen displays a list of existing volume numbering choices, known as Parts. These combinations of volume labels and enumeration may be linked to particular Piece records. From this screen, you can choose a particular record for editing, insert another Part, or delete a record.

The Parts Detail screen displays a particular Part record, which stores the volume enumeration. From this screen, you can edit the enumeration. The Part's Type of Holding information and Publication Pattern (label) actually reside in linked records, which you can jump to by using the ?? command.
