Saving Records Locally During ADVANCE Downtime

  1. Search in AdvPac as you normally do.
  2. Push your record to AdvCat.
  3. Make your edits to the bib.
  4. Save your record to your P:\drive.

    Click the circle next to then to select your P:\drive.
  5. After you have selected your P: drive click then .
  6. You will then be back to your record which you need to close by clicking file -> close from your main menu.
  7. Repeat until all your records are searched.
Recalling your records when ADVANCE comes up
  1. From your main menu click file -> open workfile.

    This will open the Record Index window.
  2. Select by double clicking the record you want to work on.
  3. This will open the record in AdvCat.
  4. Now you can save as you normally would to MAIN*BIBMAST.
  5. You can now add your holdings info in AdvHoldings.
  6. Repeat steps 1-5 above for each record in your workfile.
Note: Records will remain in your workfile until you delete the entire file. When you have finished cataloging all the records in your workfile; follow the instructions below to delete the file.

Deleting Records from the Retrieve File
  1. From your Start button, go to Programs -> Windows Explorer.
  2. Click on your P:\drive to open it, then click once on the retrieve.mdb file to highlight it.
  3. Go to File -> Delete, then answer "Yes" to "Are you sure you want to send 'Retrieve' to the Recycle Bin?"
The records are then deleted from your workfile.
