PERIODICALS

Tamiment Library's serials collections include a broad range of periodicals that
shed light on U.S. women's labor, work culture, and workplace-based activism in
the 19th and 20th century. Listed here are some of the publications in Tamiment's
serials collection published by unions with large, or at least substantial,
female memberships, and by working women's own organizations, like '9 to 5' and
the Women's Trade Union League. Particularly well represented are communications
and garment workers and teachers, among other groups.

Tamiment also houses many publications of political organizations that are not included here, but may
contain relevant material: e.g., National NOW Times or the early 20th-century socialist journal,
The Progressive Woman (please see BobCat for titles).

PLEASE NOTE: Serials holdings are always in flux and titles and dates held are liable to change
over time. Furthermore, cataloging information for periodicals is not always precise regarding
dates of publication, volumes/numbers held, format (microform or hard copy), or title changes
over time (a common occurrence* - see note below). The information here is approximate and
subject to change, so please consult BobCat and/or Tamiment staff for further information. If
the listings below do not specifically mention a date range for issues held, the dates of
publication should generally match the actual holdings at Tamiment.

*Periodicals with titles that changed over time are listed here under a single entry, with title
changes specified in chronological order. If you are looking for a particular publication, please
read these multiple-title entries carefully; an important current title like CWA News, for example,
appears here as a continuation of Telephone Worker.
