  From Eastern Michigan University and Wayne State University. This site is "dedicated to providing information on language and language analysis, and to providing the discipline of linguistics with the infrastructure necessary to function in the digital world." Provides many links to online bibliographies and dictionaries; conferences; email discussion lists; published research; linguistics tools; and organizations.

• Linguistics Resources on the Internet

  From the Summer Institute of Linguistics, this site "focuses on researching undocumented minority languages, training field linguists, and providing resources to assist in linguistic data collection and analysis."

• The Center for Applied Linguistics

  Provides services and materials for language educators including databases, information digests, a semiannual newsletter, and a question-answering service.

• Linguistics Proceedings Directory through Cascadilla Press

  Cascadilla Press is compiling an on-line directory of published proceedings from linguistics conferences. It indexes proceedings, but does not provide full text.

• Linguistic Society of America

  Umbrella organization for all types of Linguistics, offers job resources, scholarly research, and outreach activities to the Linguistics community.

• International Linguistic Association

  Based in New York City at Columbia, the ILA sponsors conferences, publishes the journal WORD, and holds monthly meetings at the Teachers' College.

These resources can help you get an overview of a topic; define terms, theories, and persons in the field; and provide you with further readings on each subject. Using a reference resource in your research is especially useful at the beginning of a project, when it can help you focus your activities.   The database covers all aspects of the study of language including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics. Coverage of various fields of linguistics including descriptive, historical, comparative, theoretical and geographical linguistics.
• MLA International Bibliography of Books & Articles on the Modern Languages & Literatures.

  The MLA bibliography indexes journal articles in literature, language, linguistics, folklore, and film. It also indexes books, essay collections, working papers, proceedings, dissertations, and bibliographies. The online version contains records for 1963 to the present, while older records must be accessed in print at the above call number.
• Humanities Abstracts via WilsonOMNI.
  Also: Ref1 AI3.H85n (1974-present)
  Covers about 350 English-language journals, including the major linguistics journals. A companion set, Social Sciences Index, Ref1 AI3.S63n lists studies related to linguistics from the major journals in anthropology, psychology and sociology.

  Covers more than 1000 journals, including a number in linguistics and related fields. Available online from 1956-present. Depending upon subject matter, you may also want to see also its online companion, Arts and Humanities Citation Index, 1975-present.
• FRANCIS.
  Covers a broad range of topics in the humanities and social science topics from an international perspective. Especially suited for European resources.
