Richard Kostelanetz is a long-time supporter of innovative and experimental literature.
An expert in verbo-visual work and many other forms of avant garde literature,
Kostelanetz's assembling technique, as shown here, was a major method employed by
downtown authors to circumvent the structures of traditional editorship.
In assembling magazines, every contributor brings a certain number of copies of their work,
say 100 copies of a poem, and the magazine is compiled from the various sheets, stapled
together, and distributed. Kostelanetz is well-known for his own writing and for his
anthologies of contemporary works.
