Meteorological Observatory at the University Heights campus on top of MacCracken Hall

During World War II, the Engineering, Science, and Management War Training Division of the College of Engineering offered war-accelerated training courses at the University Heights campus. The efforts of the College of Engineering now focused on the teaching of meteorology and engineering to cadets sent to NYU by military authorities and government agencies. By World War II’s end, more than 18,000 students had been trained in NYU’s engineering courses.
