NYU's exhibit at the 1904 St. Louis Exposition

The 1904 St. Louis Exposition commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase featured education as the main theme. NYU exhibited a marine engine that “fit on the average mantelpiece,” developed by the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Another popular piece was a glass-enclosed scale model of the University Heights campus in the Bronx constructed by the School of Applied Sciences. Students assembled the model in New York and then shipped it by private freight car to St. Louis.
