Wall Street Division of the School of Commerce opens, initially at Broad Street and later at Trinity Place.

The Graduate School of Business Administration is founded to offer graduate business instruction in the Wall Street area of Manhattan.

The United States enters World War I, causing NYU enrollment to substantially decline from 789 students at University Heights campus in February 1917 to 238 civilian students by October 1918.

Apr: Establishment of National Army Training Detachment/ Students Army Training Corps at NYU.

Dec 20: The School of Retailing created, offering business courses in retail management.

School of Pedagogy renamed School of Education.

Groundbreaking for School of Engineering building on University Heights campus.

New York College of Dentistry merges with NYU to become NYU College of Dentistry.
